Drakona sits on a ridge in the Apokoronas hills with views that extend from the White Mountains in the south to the Cretan Sea in the north. The village is small and largely unchanged — stone houses, a church, a spring, a kafeneion that opens when it opens. The panorama from the village road is among the finest in western Crete.
