About this beach
Elafonissi is one of the most extraordinary beaches in the Mediterranean. The sand has a distinctly pink hue from crushed coral. A shallow lagoon separates the main beach from the small island, which you can wade across in knee-deep water. The water is crystalline, turquoise, and warm from late May through October.
Local Tip
"Arrive before 09:30 in July and August. After 11:00 it gets crowded. The north side of the island is quieter and has better snorkeling."
