Loutro is a village with no roads. It sits in a horseshoe bay on the south coast and can only be reached by ferry from Hora Sfakion or Paleochora, or by a 2-hour coastal walk from Sfakia. The permanent population is around thirty. The bay is almost always calm. The fish is fresh from the nets. The silence, after the last ferry leaves in the evening, is complete.

Sunset
Loutro harbour west end
Walk to the west end of the harbour or up to the hilltop above the village. The ten-minute climb gives a view over the whole horseshoe bay and out to open sea.
