Marmara is a small cove on the south coast between Loutro and Glyka Nera, accessible only by boat or by a demanding cliff path. The beach takes its name from the smooth white marble-like limestone pebbles that cover it — pebbles worn so smooth and pale that the beach glows in sunlight. The water is deep turquoise, the cove is sheltered, and the absence of any road means silence.

How to Get There
By boat: water taxis from Loutro (15 minutes) or Hora Sfakion (25 minutes) on request. By foot: a demanding 2-hour path from Loutro along the cliff top — not recommended without experience and good footwear.
Best Time to Visit
June through September when water taxis run regularly. The beach faces south and catches afternoon sun until sunset.
Ask the water taxi from Loutro to drop you at Marmara and pick you up 3 hours later. Bring snorkelling gear — the rocky edges of the cove are extraordinary.
