Fres is a small village in the Apokoronas hills above the Souda Bay coast — quiet, largely unvisited, and home to one of the best-preserved traditional olive presses (liotrivi) in the region. The press is still used in November and the family who owns it has been pressing oil from the surrounding groves for four generations.
